Honor killing and domestic violence in different parts of Sindh province claimed the lives of 41 women and 12 men in the month of January 2011. Out of 41 women, 22 were killed over the allegations of Kari, while 19 were killed in domestic violence.
Study conducted by the cell of Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR) in the month of January most cases of Karokari were recorded in district khairpur, where 4 women were killed, 3 women each were killed in Kandhkot, Mirpurkhas and Ghotki districts. 9 women each 1 was killed in Dadu, Tando Allahyar, Larkana, Matiari, Sanghar, Qambar Shahdadkot, Shiarkpur, Badin and Jacobabad districts. 12 men were also killed over the pretext of Karo in January 2011. 3 men were killed in district Khairpur, 2 others were killed in district dado, while others in different districts of Sindh.

481 women killed over honor killing and domestic disputers during 2010
In the year 2010, 481 women were killed over honor killing and domestic matter/ disputes.According to study conducted by Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR) women rights cell, 242 women were killed after being tortured over honor killing and 239 women were killed over domestic matters.
According to a report, 84 women were killed in just a month of May 2010, in which 48 women were killed over domestic matters; where as 36 women were killed over honor killing. 11 women were killed over honor killing and 10 women were killed over domestic violence in the month of January 2010, 11 women were killed over honor killing and 10 in domestic violence in the month of February 2010, whereas 19 women were killed over honor killing and 8 women were killed over domestic matter in the month of March 2010, In April 27 women were killed over honor killing and 20 women were killed in domestic matters,
whereas 27 women were killed over honor killing and 32 women were killed over domestic matter in the month of June 2010, in the month of July, 26 women were killed over honor killing and 40 women were killed over domestic matter, while 14 women were killed over honor killing and 13 women were killed over domestic matter in the month of august 2010.
As many as 26 women were killed over honor killing and 16 women were killed over domestic matter in the month of September 2010, while as 21 women were killed over honor killing and 20 women were killed over domestic matter in the month of October.
In November, 17 women were killed over honor killing and 15 women were killed over domestic matter, while 07 women were killed over honor killing and 27 women were killed over domestic matter in the month of December.

32 Women killed in the name of Honour Killing and domestic violence in the Month of November in Sindh
RDHR‘s cell for Women Rights issued one month report on killing.
The honour killing and domestic violence in different part of Sindh province claimed the lives of 32 women in the month of November. Out of 32 women, 17 lost their lives in the name of honour killing, while 15 were killed on domestic violence.
Research and Development for Human Resources Sindh conducted a study from November 1 to 30 and revealed the fact that in the name of honour killing, 4 women were killed in Shikarpur, 3 women were killed in Larkana, 2 women killed in Jacobabad, while One each in women was killed in Sukkur, Nosheroferoz, Kashmor, Shahdad kot, Kherpur, Ghotki, Mirpurkhas and New Saeed abad Districts.
In domestic violence, according to report 15 women lost their lives that include 2 in Shikarpur, while One each in Jacobabad, Ghotki, kherpur, Tando aadam, Shahdad kot, Sukkur, Qambar, Sanghar, Umerkot, Dado and Badin.

Karokari and Domestic violence agaist women lost lives of 41 women in the month of Actober in sindh, while 8 double murders also committed and lost lives of 8 men.
According to study conducted by RDHR from 1st of October to 31 October, 21 women killed in the name of Karokari including 8 men, and 20 women killed in domestic violence.
Study shows that most cases of karokari were recorded in Ghotki district, where 6 women were killed, in Sanghar District 3 women were killed, 2 each in Noshero feroz and Nawabshah while one each in Jacobabad, Hyderabad, Mirpur mathelo, Karachi, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Kandhkot and Sukkur districts.
According to study 20 women including 4 in Sanghar, 2 each in Shikarpur, kherpur and badin, while one each in Nawabshah, Tando Muhammad Khan, Ghotki, Kashmor, Larkana, Dado, Jacobabad, Hyderabad, Qambad Shahdadkot, Kherpur Mirus & Tharparkar were killed under domestic violence.

42 Women & 10 Men Killed in September 2010 in Sindh
42 women, while 10 men killed over allegation of Karo Kari and torture in Sindh during the month of September, 2010. According to the report of Women Cell of Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR), during 1st to 30th of September, 2010 26 women were killed over allegation of Kari, while 16 other women were killed by torture. More Karo Kari incidents occurred at Kashmore district as compare to other districts of the Sindh, where 5 women were killed, while 4 respectively in Khairpur and Sukkur and 2-2 women in Ghotki, Sanghar, Larkana and Naushehro Feroz respectively. According to report, 16 women killed by torture, comprises 3 women in Sanghar district, 2-2 women in Hyderabad, Naushehro Feroz and Badin districts respectively, while 1-1 woman were killed by torture in Karachi, Matiari, Thatta, Benazirabad, Khairpur, Jamshoro and Qambar districts respectively. In this regards, The C.E.O of RDHR Maqbool Mallah expressed his concerns over the incidents and demanded of concerned authorities to take a notice of these incidents and action against the involved elements.

25 women killed in the name of karokari and domestic violence in moth of August in sindh.
According to study conducted by Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR) At Least 25 women and 5 men were killed in the province of Sindh in one month from 1st August to 31 August 2010. Out of which 12 women were killed over karo kari and 13 women were killed under incidents of violence of various kinds. 2 double murders were committed and lost lives of 5 men, Study revealed the fact that in the name of honour killing, 3 women were killed in Nosheroferoz, two women killed in Jamshoro district including a double murder, two women were killed in Ghotki District, while one each in Qambar, Shahdad kot, Sanghar, Matiari and Kashmor.
In domestic violence, according to report 13 women lost their lives that include 2 each in Dado, Hyderabad, and Ghotki, While one each in Badin, Tharparkar, Karachi, Kherpur, Shikarpur, Sukkur and Kashmore.

Honour Killings, Violence Claimed Lives of 66 Women in the Month of July in Sindh
Research and Development for Human Resources (RDHR) sindh, using newspapers gathered data on violence against women, during the time period from 1st June to 31 July 2010. Women are being victims in our society through many ways, amongst all honor killings and domestic violence are frequent in different parts of sindh province and these violence have claimed the lives of 66 women in the month of July. Out of 66 women, 26 women lost their lives under the blame of honor killings, while 40 were killed in the domestic violence.
26 women were killed under honor killings out of which 6 women were killed in Jacobabad, 5 in Ghotki, 3 in Shikarpur, 2 in Larkana, Banzirabad, Dadu, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas and one in Kashmor and khair pur mir’s respectively.
In domestic violence, 40 women were killed, including 6 in Karachi, each 5 in Ghotki and khairpur mir’s , 4 in Larkana, 2 each in Jacobabad, Sukkur, Jamshoro, Banazirabad, Sanghar, Hyderabad and Badin and one each in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Thatta, Dadu, Shahdadkot and Shikarpur.

Violence Claimed Lives of 59 Women in the Month of June in Sindh
The honour killing and domestic violence in different part of Sindh province claimed the lives of 59 women in the month of June. Out of 59 women, 27 lost their lives in the name of honour killing, while 32 were killed on domestic violence.
A cell, formed by the Research and Development for Human Resources Sindh conducted a study from June 1 to 30 and revealed the fact that in the name of honour killing, six each women were killed in Ghotki and Jacobabad districts, three each in Shikarpur, Khairpur and Larkana districts, two in Naushehro Feroze district and one each woman was killed in Karachi, Shahdadkot, Qamber, Kashmore and Sanghar districts. In domestic violence, according to report 32 women lost their lives that include nine in Karachi, five in Hyderabad, three each in Naushero Feroze and Larkana, two each in Kashmore, Ghotki, and Sukker and one each in Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Dadu, Shahdadkot, Qamber, Khairpur, Shikapur and Jacobabad. The Research and Development for Human Resources Sindh has expressed its deep concern over the increasing cases of honour killing and domestic violence against women and called upon the government to take notice in combating such killings of the women

Establishment of Camp from LAAPPAK
The consortium has established a Camp at new Sabzi Mandi Camp at Hala Naka Hyderabad, where flood affected people were helped for their registration in resolving their other difficulties faced by them.
Foodstuff Providing
The food packages, nutrition and Medicine to the pregnant women to the flood effected people were also provided at Sabzi Mandi.
Medical Aid
The consortium has established Medical Camp and has been providing
Medical cover to the I.D.Ps of Sabzi Mandi Camp, since its establishment.
CHILD PROTECTION
There were children with the flood affected people in the Camp at new
Sabzi Mandi and total number of affected children was 9,707 (Nine thousand seven hundred seven). Out of them 5,637 (Five thousand six hundred thirty seven) were Girls and 4070 (Four thousand seventy) were Boys.
The affected people were displaced by the natural calamity from their natural places of their birth and circumstances, seasons, cultures and atmospheres and they were shifted in the artificial Camps so naturally they faced lot of troubles, particularly the children who are more sensitive than major person, as a child needs much care and protection rather than elder with regard to his nutrition, health, clothing, and season & atmosphere of abode of child are more affecting factors to the children and more particularly the security of the child, as the chances of exploitation of a child are more in the Camps.
By keeping in view, the above circumstances the consortium provided following facilities in the Camp.
i.Fresh Milk to the Children.
ii.Nutrition Food.
iii.Tent School.
iv.Medical Cover.
v.Hair Cutting.
CASE STUDIES OF SUCCESS OF LAAPPAK
1.Mst: Shahida alias Abida Chandio:
Mst Shahida was married with one Manzoor Hussain Chandio about 8 years back, who after the marriage brought the lady in his house and kept her happy hardly for 2 months and thereafter he started to maltreat her un-necessarily, and her husband used to force her to bring the money from her parents for his ill-habits, as the husband of lady was habitual of drug addiction of chars coupled with he used to take intoxication. A part from this the husband of the lady used to force her to earn livelihood for herself as well as for her husband by working in the house of locality. The husband of the above named lady extended all sort of cruelty to her which she bore being Eastern lady, but subsequently the husband of the above named lady tried to kill her with lethal weapon when she refused to do all the desired actions, whereupon she went to Police Station Dadu for protection along with tow kids and subsequently Police produced her in the Court of Honorable Sessions Judge Dadu on 20.08.2009, who was pleased to sent the lady to Dar-ul-Aman Qasimabad, Hyderabad for protection to the life of lady.
On 10.11.2009 the Assistant Director Dar-ul-Aman Hyderabad has sent letter bearing No. AD/SW(DAH)/(PF) / 1035-2009 Hyderabad to the “LAAP” along with joint application of above named lady and Mst: Farzana alias Affal wife of Khalid Hussain Chandio. On receiving such letter, LAAP deputed its a team of Advocates which visited the Dar-ul-Aman and got instructions from the above named lady about her case. Thereafter LAAP with the consent of the above named lady tried to resolve the matter amicably between the spouses, but no fruitful result was achieved, therefore on the instruction of the above lady it was decided to file the case in the Competent Court of Law.
Result: - A Family Suit No. 63 of 2010 was filed and finally decided by the Court in the favour Plaintiff / victimized lady and now she has been passing her life peacefully.
2.Mst: Farzana alias Affal Chandio:
Mst: Farzana was married with one Khalid Hussain Chandio about three years back and after the marriage the Husband of the above named lady had forced her to work in the field of various Zamindars for earning lively hood. Apart from this the husband of the above named lady had sold out all the dowry articles towards his ill acts, as the husband of the above named lady used to sit idle and involved in the ill habit. About more then four months ago, the above named lady was severely maltreated by her husband even tried to kill her with lethal weapon, whereupon she went to Police Station Dadu for protection and subsequently Police produced her in the Court of Honorable sessions Judge, Dadu on 20.08.2009 who was pleased to sent the lady to Dar-ul-Aman Qasimabad, Hyderabad for protection of the life of lady.

Due to some differences between the spouse, the above named lady filed a family Suit for Maintenance, Recovery of Dower and Dowry Articles in the Court of learned Family Judge, Jamshoro at Kotri and notice of the Suit was served upon the husband of lady /Defendant who approached the “LAAP” and request for providing free legal being poor person. He further requested that his matter may be resolved amicably on the priority basis as there were three minor children of the spouse therefore it was matter of future of the said children, hence “LAAP” deputed its Advocate. Thereafter “LAAP” made efforts for reconciliation between the spouse and succeeded to resolve the matter between the parties and finally Plaintiff / Mst: Fozia Pathan with drew the Family suit on 20.01.2010.
Result: The spouse started their happy life again with their children peacefully and in this way the future of the children was saved.
4.Mst: Khalida Parveen Dars:
The above named lady was married with one Raja Soomro on 07.06.2009 and the parents of lady had given certain dowry articles and Rukhsati was held. The husband of the lady had kept her happy for two months and letter on he started to advance cruel attitude to the lady coupled with inhuman behavior of the parents of her husband, as the in-laws of the lady used to get done all the household work through the above mentioned lady, but in the return of that she was not even provided proper meal by her husband as well as by his parents. The husband of the lady being jobless used sit idle in the home and sold all the dowry articles and squandered away towards his ill-activities and whenever she protested, she was severely beaten by her husband, who not only used to beat her in house but also in the open road, being cruel person. The lady having poor parents coupled with belonging to Eastern Society try her level best to remain in the house of her husband, but she was driven away from the house in three plain clothes by her husband, therefore she came at the house of her parents. Since the lady had developed acute hatred against her husband therefore she contacted with “LAAP” and made request for providing free legal aid to resolve her matter. The “LAAP” tried its level best to reconcile the matter could not be resolved, hence a family suit bearing No.88 of 2010 was filed on 18.03.2010 in the Court of learned Family Judge, Hyderabad and the process has been issued against the Defendant.
Since the “LAAP” believe in resolving the matters amicably between the parties, hence efforts were continued, as such during pendency of case, spouse showed willingness to live together and to start their new life, therefore spouse started residing together.
Result:- The spouse started their happy life by forgetting all the previous differences.
5.Mst. Sahibzadi Chang & Mst. Mehnaz Chang.
The husband of Mst.Sahibzadi was died, as such she used to reside in the house of her late husband along with the sister of her late husband namely Mst.Mehnaz, as her husband was also died. One Shadi Khan Chang who is real brother of Mst.Mehnaz and brother of late husband of Mst.Sahibzadi, had an evil eye over the house of his late brother, as such he dispossessed the Mst.Sahibzadi from her house with the help criminals forcibly and drove the both poor, helpless ladies aged about 75 & 77 years out from their house by maltreating. Both the ladies had complained the matter at various forums and ultimately approached the “LAAP” for getting free legal aid, whereupon “LAAP’ deputed its Advocates for providing them free legal aid and got filed a Civil Suit bearing No.01 of 2009 in the Court of 8th Civil Judge as well as two Criminal cases bearing No.88 of 2007, Criminal Miscellaneous Application bearing No.150 of 2009 in the Court of Honourable Sessions Judge Hyderbad.
Result: - The possession of the house was got handed over to the poor, needy, aged and helpless ladies, where they have been passing their lives happily, smoothly and peacefully.
6.Mst.Zebunisa alias Ghafooran Shaikh.
The above named lady was driven out from her house, after sever maltreatment by her real son Muhammad Faheem Shaikh, on the instigation of his in-laws in order to sell the house, as per instructions of the lady, as such after removal from house she used to reside in the houses of people of Muhallah, being shelter less lady. She complained the matter at various forums, even conducted protest infront of Press Club Hyderabad on “Mother s’ Day”, but nor fruitful result was gained. After that she contacted with the “LAAP” for providing free legal aid, whereupon “LAAP” deputed its Advocate and various cases were filed in the competent Court of law.
Result: - She started residing in her house with her husband smoothly.
7.Mst. Jainti Bai & Amar Chand Oad.
The above named girl and boy contracted Court marriage according to their religion, therefore the people of their community were chasing them in order kill them as “Karo & Kari” as they had contracted their marriage without permission of the parents of the lady. Apart from this a criminal case was registered against the boy and his father and Police arrested the father of the boy. The spouse got shelter in the office of “LAAP” coupled with made request for providing them free legal aid, whereupon “LAAP’ deputed his Advocate for redressal of the grievance of the spouse and resultantly one Constitutional Petition and one Criminal Miscellaneous Application was filed in the Honourable High Court of Sindh, Circuit Court Hyderabad, whereupon Honorable Court was pleased to direct the Police to provide protection to the lives of the spouse. Moreover a Criminal Miscellaneous Application was also filed in the trial Court at Mirpurkhas in which the trial Court was pleased to pass order for release of father of the Accused boy.
Result:- The spouse started their fear free new happy life and father of the boy was released by the Police.
